THE BUZZ: Given how much Gov. Gavin Newsom abhors Donald Trump’s policies, he sure spends a lot of time talking about his Washington nemesis.
— Newsom framed his latest visit to the border yesterday as another POTUS repudiation, repeating his mantra that there’s no “national emergency” and saying he was “trying to highlight a different story” about the “economic vibrancy that’s demonstrable here at the border.” As with the last time Newsom was at the border, he touted a new shelter as distinguishing California’s efforts to aid asylum-seekers from Trump trying to slam the door.
